Step 2: Programming
What is a SumoBot?
A FEARSOME LEGO robot that BATTLES its opponent...
A SumoBot is built using the LEGO® MINDSTORMS® Education EV3 Core Set. It uses sensors and motors to search and destroy its opponent. There are an infinite number of ways to build a SumoBot, and the programming language allows players to come up with tactical attack and defense strategies.
The first robot to FLIP or PUSH their opponent out of the battle zone is declared CHAMPION for all time... (at least until the next battle)
Compete against a friend, in a classroom competition or in a large tournament with 20, 30, 40, 50+ other SumoBots. Do so AUTONOMOUSLY (using computer programming) or REMOTELY (using a remote device).

Remote Control Battle
The SumoBot challenge is a fun and engaging activity that combines engineering, computer programming and tactics. It is appropriate for children as young as 10 years old with little to no Lego or programming experience, BUT it can also provide complex challenges for the most experienced engineers.
The following presentation explains the benefits of the SumoBot challenge:
